Thanks for the post, Chris!

The most interesting thing about the current Trump case is that nobody really disagrees with the facts:

- Trump hush money to a porn star (he claims he didn’t have sex with her, but that’s not really relevant to the case against him)

- Trump structured the payments through his company

- Trump and his company falsely recorded those payments as retainer fees for an attorney, which would make them tax-deductible business expenses

- Trump’s lawyer, Michael Cohen, pled guilty to multiple felonies in this case in which he acted as the middle man

- Cohen testified to Congress under oath and on national TV that he committed those felonies “in coordination with and at the direction of” Trump (the quoted language is taken directly from the indictment of Cohen filed by Trump’s DOJ)

I don’t know the law well enough to have an opinion as to whether the felony charges are appropriate or whether he’ll be convicted, but it’s fascinating and disappointing that people can agree on the undisputed points above and still think, “yep, that’s my guy, and this whole thing is a witch hunt.”

My biggest issue is the idea that the state of New York has pressed charges regarding federal election laws. Where's the standing?

I think there are far more important crimes that Trump has committed as it relates to the Big Lie. Begin with Georgia and move forward. At least there, it seems to have Republican resistance.

Finally, the news about Clarence Thomas is terrifying. The initial response from Congress appears to be tepid regarding investigating him. What are we doing in this case if blatant laws are violated and the people throw up their hands and shrug.

I’d love to see a column from you on the power couple Ginny and Clarence Thomas. So much is wrong there.
